London Sessions #1: THE WANDS

Alla scoperta di nuove realtà musicali inglesi e internazionali da Londra attraverso le foto e le bio di Luca Giorietto.

La band danese The Wands è formata da Christian Vind Skibdal e Mads Bredtoft Gräs.
Sono rimasto immediatamente colpito dalle loro sonorità, un groviglio psichedelico com atmosfere pastose e colorate. Amano descrivere il loro sound come un figlio ritardato nato dall’amore tra Yoko Ono e Charles Manson, passando per i Television e Jimi Hendrix. Vengono da Copenaghen e nel 2011 hanno dato vita al progetto in modo ufficiale, anche se già in passato avevano collaborato insieme. Sono accompagnati da una lineup più estesa per i live, ma i due ragazzi sono fondamentalmente il cuore creativo. Hanno realizzato una manciata di singoli davvero interessanti tra cui “Hello I know the blow you grow is magic”, “The down”, “No one around”. Sono in procinto di dare vita al primo full lenght.
Ho avuto modo di vederli live a Londra ed apprezzare il loro sound. In occasione del live questo è stato il photoshooting che ho avuto modo di scattare.

ENG: Danish band The Wands is formed by Christian Vind Skibdal and Mads Bredtoft Gräs.
I was immediately impressed by their sound, a psychedelic tangle with mellow and colourful atmospheres. They like to describe their sound as the retarded love child of Yoko Ono and Charles Manson, influenced by Television and Jimi Hendrix.
The Wands come from Copenhagen; their project started in 2011 officially, although the two musicians had worked together in the past. They share the stage with an extended line-up during gigs, but the creative heart of the band is Christian and Mads.
They have published a handful of really interesting singles, such as “Hello I know the blow-you-grow is magic”, “The Down”, “No one around”. Currently, the band is working on their first full-length album.
I got to see them live in London, and I really appreciated their sound. It was during that live that I had the opportunity to realise my photo shoot.
