[Première]: WANG WEN – Invisible City

A 2 anni di distanza da “Sweet Home Go!”, i post-rockers cinesi Wang Wen tornano con il nuovo album “Invisible City“, in uscita il 29 settembre su Pelagic Records. Si tratta del decimo album in studio per quella che è a tutti gli effetti una delle più importanti band post-rock del continente asiatico, giunta a farsi apprezzare da tutto il mondo con il già citato “Sweet Home Go!” e con il precedente “Eight Horses” (2014), entrambi firmati Pelagic.

Per “Invisible City” la band proveniente da Dalian, nel nord della Cina, ha scelto di recarsi in Islanda, presso il Sundalugin Studio di Reykjavík, con la collaborazione di Wouter and Lode Vlaminck, produttori belgi con cui la band ha lavorato anche nel processo di realizzazione dei due album precedenti. 

We are a group of people who are always affected by the surrounding environment. There was a small river running outside the recording studio in Iceland. We recorded our album during the coldest time in Iceland, but because of its special geothermal resources, that small river didn’t freeze. When we looked at it from afar, it seemed to be enveloped in a shroud of water vapor. That small river made a lasting impression on me somehow, it became a symbol for hope.

L’artwork del disco è stato realizzato dall’illustratore cinese, ma di stanza a New York, Cen Jun, che per “Invisible City” ha realizzato 4 illustrazioni esclusive, a testimonianza dell’attenzione che i Wang Wen ripongono non solo sulla propria musica, ma anche sull’aspetto visivo.
