CODEINE: in uscita a settembre l’album perduto “Dessau”

L’etichetta discografica Numero Group, che si sta occupando di scavare negli archivi e pubblicare registrazioni inedite di band indie ed emo anni ’90 come Karate, Unwound e Current, ha annunciato una nuova chicca che va ad arricchire la propria collezione.

Uscirà infatti il prossimo 16 settembre “Dessau“, album dei Codeine registrato nel 1992 dopo il successo di “Frigid Star” e poi accantonato e mai pubblicato.

After the success of Codeine’s Frigid Stars LP, the trio of Stephen Immerwahr, John Engle, and Chris Brokaw booked time at Harold Dessau Recording in June 1992 to track an eight-song sophomore album. A few days and a couple of unexplainable high-pitched frequencies later, the record was scrapped, shelved, and forgotten about. Brokaw left the band shortly after, and these songs were re-tracked in various iterations for Codeine’s final LP. On its 30th anniversary, Numero has unearthed these recordings, restoring the original White Birch to the band’s exacting standards with producer Mike McMackin. A slowcore masterpiece hidden in plain sight.

Il disco, che conterrà 8 tracce (tra cui alcuni pezzi poi rielaborati e inseriti nel successivo “The White Birch“), sarà pubblicato in digitale e in vinile in 3 colorazioni differenti, il tutto già preordinabile sul sito ufficiale dell’etichetta. Di seguito trovate l’artwork e la tracklist.
