TINARIWEN: a novembre un album di rarità e due ristampe

Mentre la loro discografia è ferma ad “Amdjar” del 2019, i Tinariwen annunciano l’uscita di ben due reissue e un album di rarità e inediti. Quest’ultimo si intitola “Kel Tinariwen” mentre ad essere ristampati e completamente rimasterizzati saranno “Aman Iman” del 2007 e “Imidiwan: Companions“, tutti e tra in uscita il 4 novembre per Wedge.

In realtà “Kel Tinariwen” è la prima uscita ufficiale del collettivo Tuareg, registrato nel 1991 da quattro membri della comunità, Abdallah Ag Alhousseyni, Hassan Ag Touhami aka ‘Abin Abin’, Kedou Ag Ossad e Liya Ag Ablil aka ‘Diarra’, ed è un progetto partorito dalla mente del pittore, poeta e songwriter Keltoum Sennhauser. Il disco, o meglio, la cassetta su cui era inciso, non è mai stata ascoltata da nessuno al di fuori della comunità.

A parlarne è proprio Keltoum:

I think the cassette played crucial role as a tool of communication, a tool that was very dear to us. It served to raise awareness and awaken the consciences of those who felt that everything was already lost, or that we didn’t have the wherewithal to win our struggle. It allowed the Touareg world to develop its own conscience and move forward. In our milieu, the only thing that can make us question ourselves is music. Because we listen to a lot of music, we love music, we love poetry. We don’t read. We’re not a people who read. So, the only reading we have, about ourselves and about the outside world, is music
