BRAD MEHLDAU: in arrivo un disco di cover di Elliott Smith
Disponibili in anteprima le reinterpretazioni di “Tomorrow, Tomorrow” e “Better Be Quiet Now”.
Il pianista jazz Brad Mehldau ha annunciato l’uscita di un nuovo album interamente dedicato principalmente a reinterpretazioni dei brani del cantautore Elliott Smith e intitolato “Ride into the Sun“. Il disco vedrà la luce il prossimo autunno su Nonesuch (non è ancora stata resa nota la data della pubblicazione) ed è stato realizzato con la collaborazione di Daniel Rossen (Grizzly Bear). Saranno 10 le cover di Smith, in un lavoro che conterrà inoltre due brani inediti e due cover di Nick Drake e Big Star.
Mehldau ha già in passato reso omaggio a Smith con il brano Sky Turning Grey (For Elliott Smith) nel suo album “Highway Rider” del 2010. Sono già due i brani estratti in anteprima dal disco, ovvero Tomorrow, Tomorrow e Better Be Quiet Now, che potete ascoltare di seguito.
