Più di 400 artisti ed etichette hanno aderito alla campagna “No Music For Genocide”

Sono mesi ormai, come saprete, che decine di artisti stanno lasciando Spotify conseguentemente alla scoperta degli investimenti del CEO della piattaforma streaming Daniel EK in equipaggiamenti militari hi-tech.

La questione si è fatta ancor più estesa con la nascita della campagna “No Music For Genocide“, un movimento nato con l’intento di boicottare culturalmente Israele per il genocidio attualmente in corso in Palestina.

Si legge così sulla pagina principale del sito della campagna:

No Music For Genocide è un boicottaggio culturale di Israele. Oltre 400 artisti ed etichette discografiche hanno bloccato geograficamente e rimosso la loro musica da quel territorio in risposta al genocidio israeliano a Gaza; alla pulizia etnica della Cisgiordania occupata; all’apartheid in Israele / ’48; alla repressione politica degli sforzi pro-Palestina ovunque viviamo; e ai legami dell’industria musicale con le armi e i crimini contro l’umanità.

Questo atto tangibile è solo un passo verso l’onorare le richieste palestinesi di isolare e delegittimare Israele mentre uccide senza conseguenze sulla scena mondiale. Il successo dei boicottaggi culturali contro l’apartheid in Sudafrica dimostra che il nostro lavoro creativo ci garantisce capacità di azione e potere. Quando lo esercitiamo insieme, aggiungiamo una pressione unitaria a un movimento in crescita, globale e interdipendente, da Hollywood ai porti del Marocco.

Nel giro di pochi mesi dall’invasione russa dell’Ucraina, tutte le principali etichette discografiche hanno rimosso unilateralmente l’intero catalogo dalla Russia o hanno chiuso completamente le attività, condannando implicitamente o esplicitamente le azioni di Putin e le donazioni all’Ucraina. Nessuna misura del genere è stata adottata contro Israele, o a sostegno della Palestina, dopo decenni di occupazione illegale e 23 mesi di accelerato genocidio da parte di Israele.

Questa iniziativa non ha confini ed è aperta a tutti gli artisti e le etichette che desiderano boicottare. Ci auguriamo che porti a ulteriori sforzi contro la complicità dell’industria musicale.

Sono ormai più di 400 gli artisti e le etichette che hanno aderito a “No Music For Genocide“, tra cui anche i Massive Attack che ieri, grazie alla loro adesione, hanno fatto sì che tutte le maggiori testate musicale in giro per il mondo rilanciassero la notizia.
